Power transformers contain mineral oils for insulation and surge protection. These oils get contaminated over time putting expensive and mission critical equipment at failure risk. Grid infrastructure companies manually test these oils for contamination, but it is an inefficient and costly activity.
Psserro, a German start up has developed an online BDV + DGA Sensor (MODBUS RTU) capable of measuring Temperature, Pressure, H2, CO, CO2, Water content, Partial Discharge (PD), Break down voltage (BDV) monitoring device that provides real time visualization of power transformers.
Through its research, RCM had secured patent rights for Pakistan and regional countries for assembly, testing and branding its online transmissions monitoring system from Passerro.
On successful close of the insulator project, RCM pitched this product to QI. It was accepted and the first order to national transmission and despatch company was delivered in 2025.
The product synergises QI’s industry presence as both insulators and TMS product clients are the same grid infrastructure companies. Therefore, client relationship can be strengthened through a portfolio approach that solved multiple problems for these companies.
