Telephone Industries of Pakistan (TIP) is a government owned entity founded to manufacturer telephony equipment in 1960s. Its main line of business went out of viability with time, and it wanted to venture into a new arena in order to survive.
We analyzed its assets and discovered that it had some workshop and human resources that were transferable. At the same time, there was a procurement for telecom and power transmission towers design and manufacturing requirement that we had identified. TIP’s location in northern Pakistan made it an ideal location for tower manufacturing as power generation and transmission infrastructure in that area is planned to grow rapidly.
Along with RCM’s associated company Arden Engineering, we formed a design and project management team. This team was able to secure a PKR500mn+ order that is now in delivery phase.
We also developed a procurement and marketing plan that is well placed to capitalized on multi billion rupee tower manufacturing business in the next 5-10 years.
